Vic: Woman arrested following violent altercation at flats

MELBOURNE, Aug 26 AAP - A woman has been arrested following an aggravated burglary
in Melbourne's north in which she doused another woman with petrol.

Shortly before 7.30 last night(AEST), the woman became aggressive and started yelling
at her neighbours from the driveway of a block of flats in Seston Street, Reservoir, police
said.

The 42-year-old smashed windows in two flats, then entered the second unit, arming
herself with a curtain rod and threatening the occupants.

She left briefly, grabbed a can of petrol and returned to the second flat where a female
occupant confronted her outside.

The intruder poured petrol on the woman, then returned to her own flat and doused it
with petrol before police arrived.

She was arrested at the scene and taken to Preston police station, where detectives
will interview her.
