SA: Three hospitalised as Bardot comes to Adelaide
ADELAIDE, April 17 AAP - Three people were hospitalised and traffic was slowed to a
crawl during a brief appearance by pop group Bardot in Adelaide today.
An estimated 15,000 people, mostly young girls, crammed into Westfield shopping centre,
in the southern suburb of Marion, for the 15-minute appearance from the group - born out
of the Popstars television series.
An SA Ambulance spokesman said at least 12 people in the crowd had to be treated by paramedics.
"It's been predominantly dehydration and some other underlying conditions, three people
were transported to hospital for further care," he said.
Police passed cups of water to crowd members and helped maintain control but said the
crowd was generally well-behaved and no offences were committed.
A police spokeswoman said there were major traffic delays in the area throughout the
afternoon because of the event.
Bardot is yet to release an album, but reached number one on debut on the Australian
charts with its single Poison.
